Senra Systems

I was doomscrolling LinkedIn after a long day of writing about defense tech when the headline stopped me: Senra Systems had just closed a $65 million Series B.

My first reaction sat somewhere between incredulity and reflex cynicism.

But the names on the cap table made me dig deeper: Lowercarbon Capital and Interlagos co-led the round, with Sequoia, Founders Fund, a16z, General Catalyst, and Figma CEO Dylan Field all writing checks.

Some of the most sophisticated venture capital investors had just handed two founders $65 million to build wire harnesses—a commoditized part. The kind of product mom and pop shops have assembled by hand for decades.

Or did they?

A Series B is a growth stage in a company's life. It is not a verdict on whether the product is real or the industry is as broken as the pitch deck claims. It's about taking a proven idea and scaling it with venture dollars.

So I set out to answer one question: is this proof that defense tech is deep in a bubble, or is Senra actually building the next industry-changing company?
